So … you’re going to Barcelona Spain and you want to experience getting pickpocketed.  But you don’t know how to start.  Do you wave around your expensive things?  Will they just find you?  It’s all so very confusing.

Today we’ve got a quick three minute tale of just how we managed to pull it off.  The second time that is.  The first excursion into being pickpocketed will require a much longer how-to video.  It was a learning experience … that we apparently didn’t learn much from.

(hook/intro)

So … you’re going to Barcelona and you want to experience the joy of getting pickpocketed?  But you don’t know how to start.  Do you wave around your expensive things?  Will they just find you?  It’s all so very confusing.

Today we’ve got a quick three minute tale of just how we managed to pull our own pickpocketing off.  The second time that is.  The first excursion into being robbed will require a much longer how-to video.

(screech, music stops)

OK, this actually isn’t a how-to as much as a “let’s remember when”.  This is the story about the SECOND time that Nikki had something of hers taken away.  In a five part saga.

SCENE ONE (CAM-ONE)

(the story)

Riff on these bullet points:

1 – Being on a bus, taking care to avoid closeness, her hand actually on her phone.

2 – Her realizing and screaming at the big dude in Spanish.  Me thinking it’s fight time.

3 – The old dude saying it was the other guy.  They work in pairs.  Dude behind is innocent.

4 – Watching with the cops as her phone moved through Google Maps until it blinked off a few kilometers away.  The cops being amazed, but not exactly crime fighters.  It happens too often.

5 – The replacement, which died in a toilet in Dublin just a few months later.

SCENE TWO (desk)

(finale)

OK … for the record, no, it’s not a reason to avoid Barcelona.  Or Paris or any other pickpocket crazed city.  This is a story about just being careful.  Another video soon will describe what you can and should do.  This was just let’s learn about their mistakes offering.

Be healthy, happy, and we’ll see you soon.

Just tell the story of Nikki, make this a 3MIN Travel.  The second one.  If this works, do another on the original story.

Don’t forget to wrap up with hints on upcoming prevention tips and that second story.

I envision this as just a story-time tale around a fire.  Telling the story of Nikki, the bus, the argument, and watching her phone move away.  Keep it humorous.  Play up the drama and the conflict … and then poof, the resolution is us standing in a ubiquitous phone store buying a new device.  Which I believe died a horrible death in a toilet in Dublin.  But that and the first pickpocketing (plus anti-pickpocketing tips!) is for another story time.

I see the wrap up being right there, actually.  Just end it.  It sets up future videos, has a fun storyline with some information.

  • Make sure the social media blurb deflates the scariness of pickpockets.
  • The thumbnail needs to be Nikki looking like she wants to fight, fists up.  Hyper-colorized.  Not sure if words are needed.
  • Should I film this outside?  Get out of the studio?  Just story time with a beverage and a cigar?  Probably.  I need something to start transitioning out of the studio.
